Gutter Cleaning in Abbotsford

Abbotsford is nicknamed Wisconsin's First City, because it comes first on an alphabetical list of the state's cities. It straddles Clark and Marathon counties, about 22 miles north of our Marshfield shop.

The town began as a rail junction. It was called Colby Junction from 1879 to 1880, then renamed for one of the railroad's own, Edwin H. Abbot of the Wisconsin Central. It became a village in 1894 and a city in 1965.

Abbotsford homes

About a quarter of Abbotsford's homes went up in 2000 or later, and half were built before about 1977. Nearly two in three are single-family houses.

What a proper gutter cleaning includes

Gutters are easy to put off, and in this part of the state that is a gamble. A weather station about 12 miles west of town averages about 51 inches of snow a year, with snow on the ground about 108 days and about 173 nights below freezing.

When gutters clog, the water has to go somewhere. It can be forced back into the shingles or behind the siding, which can lead to long-term water damage. Overflow can damage a foundation, and stagnant water and debris in a gutter can become a breeding ground for pests.

Here is what our gutter cleaning includes:

  • Remove all debris from the gutters and downspouts.
  • Flush the whole system out, so everything drains.
  • Check the downspouts, not just the troughs, because a clear gutter feeding a blocked downspout still overflows.
  • Take after pictures, so you can see the result without getting on a ladder.

Doing it yourself with a ladder and a bucket is possible, but the job can be very dangerous if it is not done properly.

Siding, windows and concrete

The rest of the outside can be done in the same visit: a gentle wash for the siding, streak-free windows, and power washing for the driveway and sidewalks.

Commercial buildings in Abbotsford are quoted per building.
