House Washing and Exterior Cleaning in Wausau
Wausau is the Marathon County seat, a river city on the Wisconsin River and about 35 miles northeast of our Marshfield shop. Here are straight answers to three questions worth asking before you book an exterior cleaning in Wausau.
Is my older Wausau home safe to wash?
Yes, and older homes are a big part of this city. Close to half of Wausau's homes went up before 1960, and half were built before about 1963.
That is the reason our house washing is low pressure. High pressure can damage vinyl, aluminum, stucco and wood. We soft wash siding with biodegradable solutions that do the cleaning, so high pressure does not have to, and we can clean any building up to three stories safely from the ground.
Why does one side of the house go green?
Wausau grew up as a lumber town in pine country, and trees close to a house slow down how fast its walls dry. Mildew is most common on walls behind trees and shrubs, where the air hardly moves, and a grey or green film on the shady side of the house is the classic case. Both mildew and algae wash off.
What does winter do to my roof and gutters?
Wausau averages about 64 inches of snow a year, more than the 57 we get in Marshfield, and snow covers the ground on about 112 days.
The University of Minnesota Extension describes an ice dam as a ridge of ice that forms at the edge of a roof. Heat flowing from the house melts snow higher up, and the water refreezes when it reaches the colder eaves. Gutters matter at that same edge, because a gutter packed with leaves can back water up into the shingles or behind the siding.
So fall is a good time to have gutters and downspouts flushed clear. We do a full flush and take after pictures, so you can see the result without climbing a ladder.
Downtown and commercial buildings
For retail centers, offices, restaurants and warehouses, our commercial soft washing covers building exteriors, roofs, sidewalks, parking lots and signage, and each building gets its own quote.
